Cool, clear weather prevailed as 171 motorcyclists rode together, donating 229 toys during the 4th Annual Hutchins Harley-Davidson & Hutchins Motor Sports Toys for Tots Charity Poker ride on Saturday December 7th. Although entry for the poker run required the donation of a toy worth $10 or more, a wide variety of toys, including large-ticket items, like bicycles, was collected, quickly filling the Marine Corps box-van.
As longtime supporters of the Toys for Tots mission to “bring the joy of Christmas to America’s needy children”, Hutchins dealerships in Yucca Valley, California, teamed with the Z-107.7 Community Radio, the Rotary Clubs of Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms, the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce and the Marine Corps Headquarters Battalion, MCAGCC, to present the 60-mile Poker Run. Riders followed up the ride with a BBQ lunch, Bike Show, rockin’ music, and an award ceremony at Luckie Park in Twentynine Palms.
Enjoying a break from the season’s first significant storm front, riders left Hutchins Harley-Davidson promptly at 10 AM and visited several local businesses for poker-hand card draws administered by Marines from the nearby base. Community Radio’s Motorcycling DJ Gary Daigneault acted as master of ceremonies overseeing award presentations and cash awards from the day’s events.
Both Hutchins stores are planning several motorcycling events for the coming year to benefit other community charities. For more information on these upcoming events visit this website often.
